Many healthcare, educational, and social service institutions which, from their founding, were staffed entirely by women and men religious are now served competently by lay leaders. While these employees are credentialed professionally in their field of expertiese, they often desire a deeper understanding of Catholicism, as well as knowledge of the particular religious community and charism that shapes the mission and culture of the institution where they serve.
Washington Theological Union provides programs and workshops for women and men working in hospitals, schools, social service agencies, or other non-profit institutions. These programs help to prepare employees to better understand the Catholic Mission within their place of employment and assist them in becoming agents of transformation by reflecting the mission of the institution both in the workplace and in the broader community.
